Aonica were approached to install a high-speed communications infrastructure cabling system for a new Tata Communications data centre based in Highbridge Somerset. Tata Communications (formally VSNL) Highbridge, is a Trans-Atlantic submarine cable landing site, where fibre optic cables enter the UK from Bilbao Spain , Sesimbra Portugal and New Jersey USA.
Comprising of a Category 6 UTP, OM3 Multimode and OS1 Singlemode Fibre, Aonica installed an AMP Tyco warranted system. The copper CAT6 was terminated using Tyco SL termination tools and tested with Fluke DTX 1800 cable analyzer® whereas the fibre was terminated with AMP ‘pig-tails’ and spliced using a Fujikura® fusion splicer and OTDR tested both wavelengths both ways.
